A contemporary abstract artist, Matthew Knight is based in Northern Ireland. Matthew works in his studio and wood workshop in the Gortin Glens, Sperrins, Co.Tyrone. Here he focuses on frame making as an extension of the subject.
His subjects stem from a simple shape, a doodle or inspiration from the world around, he flattens the shape to become minimal and geometric, then using block colour choices he adds back in the 3d element. The frames are cut to the angle of the subject and the frame itself becomes a part of the artwork.
