Carmen Einfinger’s brilliantly colorful, witty work is exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the world, including China, Czechoslovakia, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Taiwan, Turkey, Albania, and Poland. In the United States, she has had exhibitions in Washington, D.C., Dallas, Los Angeles, Biloxi and New York, and her work is in numerous private collections.

By turns passionate and droll, Carmen’s vibrant, fearless art is inspired by her eclectic origins and upbringing. Born in Great Britain to Dutch and Croatian parents, Carmen grew up in Brazil before settling in New York City where she has lived and worked as an artist for 22 years. Carmen received a B.F.A. in Painting at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and in 1990 was awarded an Andrew Mellon Fellowship at Brown University where she received an M.F.A. in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies, and did independent study at The Rhode Island School of Design in painting. From 1990 to the present, she exhibited her work in the U.S. and abroad, and was awarded artist residencies by NY Arts Beijing in Beijing, China; Gedok Schleswig-Holstein residency in Lubeck, Germany; and at the Blue Mountain Center, in Blue Mountain, NY

In 2002, Carmen received a NYFA Fiscal Sponsorship for her exhibition entitled “True Colors,” which traveled throughout the world. In 2009, she won first prize in the International Competition of the Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdansk, Poland to be built in 2011. In that same year, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, NY featured her as an artist in the museum’s “Bowery Artists Tribute”, a relationship that continues to this day.

Carmen Einfinger’s work has received acclaim from renowned critics such as Valerio Deho and Sara Ugoline and in publications online including Dirt AslaArt Knowledge NewsArt DailyArt Reviews DesignTaxi and Absolute Arts.

She was a featured artist in the Bilingual Art Magazine Cool with a profile that focuses on her winning the International Competition, as well as her philosophy, upbringing, and outlook on life.
